There are many environmental problems in the traditional chromium plating process. In recent years, under the guidance of the national energy conservation and environmental protection policies and technical upgrading requirements, new alternative processes and technologies are emerging, which fundamentally improve the environmental protection level of the manufacturing process. With the improvement of laser device performance, high-speed laser cladding equipment and ultra-high-speed laser cladding equipment as a new intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing and advanced environmental protection surface strengthening technology came into being.

Seven advantages of ultra-high-speed cladding

1、 High cladding efficiency

In the traditional high-speed laser cladding equipment process, the cladding line speed is generally 1-20 mm / s, the cladding efficiency is generally 0.15/h/h, and the high-speed cladding line speed can reach 300-1000 mm / s, the cladding efficiency can reach 0.5-2 square meters / h, and the processing efficiency is 3-10 times higher than that of conventional laser cladding manufacturers.

2、 Low processing cost

The following processing steps of traditional cladding coating include rough turning and fine grinding, while the coating prepared by high-speed cladding has less machining allowance, bright surface and only needs fine grinding, which greatly saves the cost (material cost, processing cost and time cost) to a certain extent.

3、 The coating is compact and smooth

The single layer thickness of high-speed cladding can reach 0.15 mm, and the coating thickness can be adjusted from 0.15 mm to 0.5 mm (single layer) by adjusting process parameters. The coating thickness is mainly related to process parameters such as cladding speed and powder feeding rate.

4、 Small heat input

High speed cladding has less heat input and deformation, and can be used to process thin-walled and small-size parts. In the traditional cladding process, most of the laser energy is concentrated on the substrate and cladding. At this time, due to the physical properties of the material such as thermal expansion mismatch, it is easy to cause stress concentration in the coating. For some coatings with high hardness, it is easy to crack during cladding. In the process of ultra-high speed cladding, 80% of laser energy acts on the powder, so the residual stress in the coating is small and the coating is not easy to crack.

5、 Metallurgical combination

The metallurgical bonding between the substrate and the alloy layer can be realized by ultra-high speed cladding. The results of tensile test and 600 ton press test show that there is no delamination and spalling.

6、 The dilution ratio is low and the deformation is small

The large dilution ratio and upward diffusion of large amount of elements in the substrate affect the overall performance (hardness and corrosion resistance) of the coating, which has been the main difficulty for laser cladding manufacturers. For example, when a high hardness coating is prepared on the surface of 45 steel, the hardness of the coating tends to decrease. However, these problems will not occur in high-speed cladding, because the dilution ratio of high-speed cladding is much lower than that of conventional cladding, a lot of energy is concentrated on the powder, and the elements in the substrate do not have enough thermal driving force to diffuse into the coating.
